The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao presents the exhibition of the famous painter and poet Henri Michaux (Namur, Belgium, 1899-Paris, France, 1984). It is an exhibition that brings together an outstanding set of works by an unclassifiable figure of the literature and arts of the twentieth century. Henri Michaux had during his long life a great influence between the artists and writers of his time, being at the same time "poet of poets" and "Painter of painters", and celebrated by figures of both fields like Andre Gide and Francis Bacon.
This exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Michaux archives of Paris, encompasses fifty years of Michaux's creative activity, through the most important series and periods of his work. Gathering around 230 pieces, documents and personal objects of the artist, Henri Michaux: The other side is structured around three main thematic axes, on which it offers a panoramic view: The human figure, the alphabet and the altered psyche.
